Hillsborough Auxiliary to Peninsula Family Service (HAPFS )

Mission Statement:

We are a vital group of women dedicated to supporting Peninsula Family Service (PFS) through fundraising and volunteer efforts and strengthening personal relationships through diverse enrichment activities.

HAPFS was founded in 1964, and today has about 50 Active and 90 Sustaining members. We support PFS through two major fundraising events, our November luncheon (Thanks For Giving ) and our Gala typically held in March. HAPFS also performs hands-on service including volunteering at PFS's Second Avenue Early Learning Center, serving lunches and assisting with parties at Fair Oaks Senior Center, and hosting collection drives (e.g, children’s shoes, preschool holiday gifts, backpacks and school supplies).

HAPFS raised over $450,000 for Peninsula Family Service in the 2024/2025 fiscal year.

Nearly all of the funds we raise for PFS are unrestricted. The exception is our Fund-A-Need (FAN) which changes yearly and supports an area of vital current need within PFS’s Early Learning, Financial Empowerment, or Older Adult Services platforms.

Please join us! All hands welcome!

We work to support PFS with a sustaining hand to our local families in need and at all ages and stages of life.  Now more than ever, our work is vital to the health and well-being of our community. Celebrating 75 Years of Service and Impact:

Peninsula Family Service is excited to celebrate 75 years of impact!  Since 1950, PFS has opened doors to opportunity, offering children, families, and older adults the tools to thrive at every stage of life. As we celebrate this anniversary year, PFS remains dedicated to strengthening our communities and ensuring we remain a vital partner for the next 75 years and beyond.

Community Partner:

PFS provides comprehensive services that support individuals and families at various stages of life. Originally a small organization founded in 1950 (then known as the Family Service Agency of San Mateo County), PFS has grown to recognize the need for innovative, professionally-led, locally-targeted solutions to secure the wellness and stability of our neighbors. The community has rallied behind this mission, providing fundraising support and volunteers to establish and grow expert-led programs.

From early learning and financial empowerment programs to older adult and employment services, Peninsula Family Service is a trusted resource in the community, helping individuals from all walks of life.  Our more than 45 sites, programs and services reach thousands of neighbors in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
